Replanting the Schultz burn

In 2012, the Coconino National Forest will plant 60,000 pine seedlings in the Schultz burn.  Together with Forest Service staff, FoNAF will coordinate the volunteer efforts.  In anticipation of this project, the Flagstaff Ranger District provided training in how to plant seedlings efficiently. The class was held Thursday, October 27th.  It ran from 8:30 until early afternoon and was a great success.

The Forest Service plans to replant in April of 2012--as the weather and snow cover permit.  If you would like to be informed about dates as the planting season approaches, please send a note to inquiry@friendsofnazforests.org

District-wide Schedule of Project Days

Annually, the Forest Service publishes a schedule of project days for the months April through November. Projects usually consist of maintaining fences to protect young aspen, trail construction, trail maintenance, habitat rehabilitation, or control of invasive weeds. Many organizations contribute their project days to the listing.
