Improving Trail GuidesThe Forest Service uses the term “Recreation Opportunity Guide” (ROG) for a “trail guide.” The project’s goal is to review and improve all existing ROGs and to create new ones where they are needed. You might hike a trail with the current ROG in hand and note revisions that need to be made. Later, you would revise the text as needed and perhaps insert appealing descriptions or historical notes. New trails, such as those on the Peaks and some parts of the Flagstaff Loop Trail, will give you an opportunity for even more creativity. You can write the ROG from scratch.
